The new cover of Changes has a red dress w/ a blue sash, but why would AG put a retired dress on the COVER of a book? I really don't understand AG at times! Was this one of the infamous 'special edition' /limited edition dresses? I was not around AG then, but I'd think that if a girl sees the dress on a cover of their book, they may just want it! I sure hope they bring it back.
Edited to add, maybe this is not the newest cover, I don't know, since I have the cream color ones.

That is Addy's Patriotic Dress, NOT a limited edition. She wears it in that book to a special event and she reads the Emanciapation Proclomation. It served the same function in the collection as Molly and Samantha's play outfits, and in the OLD catalogs was pictured on the same page as her Sweet Dreams collection. (which was all of the bedtime stuff)

Oh, Good, so there is hope that they may bring it back without having to change it (since it wasn't marketed originally as limited) Now if only they'd bring it back.
When did disappear? At least for us newbies, it would at least be considered new.
edited to add: I have not read many of the books, because I am waiting for my girls to get older so we can enjoy them together, so my knowledge is extremely limited (we've read some of the short stories, because my dds can sit thru them)

I don't remember exactly when it disappeared. Maybe Felicity+AddyFan remembers. A couple of years ago I think.

I think it was retired in 1998 or 1999.

I'm pretty sure it was retired in 2001. Curt's site says that it was retired in 2001.
